PILL TO PATIENT
In June 2024, I had the honor of working with USAID (U.S. Agency for International Development) to capture the compelling story of Dr. Carine Codo, an exceptional pharmacist at the Nouvelle Pharmacie de la Santé Publique (NPSP) in Abidjan.
This photo series takes you on a journey from the storage of critical medicines—procured by USAID which invests approximately $15 million annually in HIV, malaria, and family planning commodities for Côte d'Ivoire—at the national warehouse in Abidjan, to their administration to patients.
This series highlights the essential role of Dr. Codo in ensuring that 300,000 people living with HIV in Côte d'Ivoire have continuous access to their vital treatments, despite the fact that nearly 50% of Africans lack access to critical medicines.
This project reinforces my passion for storytelling through photography, as each image captures the significant impact of individuals like Dr. Codo who are making a profound difference in their communities.
The story was written by Cassandra Vasiloff, Communications Advisor, Strategic Coordination and Communication Division, USAID Bureau for Global Health, Office of HIV/AIDS. Read the full story here.
