Green Jobs in Grand Bassam: New Lungs for the Youth
By Miléquêm Diarassouba | Photojournalist Côte d'Ivoire
In the coastal city of Grand Bassam, young Ivorians are taking action to remove plastic waste from natural ecosystems, giving their community a new lease on life. This project is the result of a partnership between Jellyfishhh, a mission-driven company focused on the professionalization of cleaning and depollution, and the NGO Green Ivory, responsible for implementing this initiative in Côte d’Ivoire.
During its pilot phase, this impactful project has created four jobs for professional waste collectors, while successfully removing several tons of plastic waste from the environment. These efforts not only preserve the natural beauty of Grand Bassam but also open up new green job opportunities for the local youth. This initiative is reshaping the future of Côte d’Ivoire by promoting environmental sustainability and empowering young individuals to become champions of a cleaner, greener tomorrow.
